Building Your Collection
Here are some ways libraries are integrating
eBooks into their collections:
-
Identify current gaps in your collection -
You may want to fill these gaps with eBooks - no new shelving
or storage required.
-
Determine which titles or subjects have high demand -
You may want to supplement your collection with duplicates
of popular titles. Your library chooses the appropriate
length of check-out time, allowing you to shorten check-out
times during periods of high demand for specific topics or
titles.
-
Identify titles or subjects needed by your e-Learners -
eBooks can be accessed anytime/anywhere with remote
authentication.
-
Consider specific subject areas and titles that are more
regularly accessed by staff and employees for research
and reference -
The unique nature of eBooks makes them ideally suited for
research and reference.

Managing Your eBook Collection
We've worked hard to build solid relationships with library system
vendors to allow for seamless integration of eBooks into library OPACs,
using NetLibrary's full-level MARC21 records. When you integrate eBook
MARC records into your OPAC, your employees can search for and find the
titles in your eBook collection in the same way they're accustomed to
today.
You will also have access to the Library Resource Center which allows you to
track usage of eBooks locally. These reports provide valuable data to
help you grow and shape your collection to better meet the needs of your
employees.
