NetLibrary Join Forces with FEDLINK

NetLibrary is participating in FEDLINK purchasing program

BOULDER, COLO. – August 6, 2001 – NetLibrary™, the leading provider of eBooks and Internet-based content/collection management services for libraries, today announced acceptance into the Federal Library and Information Centers (FEDLINK) purchasing program. This agreement will give federal libraries access to additional information resources in the form of nearly 40,000 NetLibrary eBooks. Over 1500 federal libraries purchase library services through FEDLINK.

“Our collaboration with FEDLINK gives NetLibrary the opportunity to serve the diverse needs of the federal library community,” said NetLibrary Executive Vice President of Sales Rich Rosy. “FEDLINK members will now have access to an electronic eBook solution, providing them with anytime, anywhere access to quality published content from more than 300 of the world’s leading publishers.”

By combining the time-honored traditions of the library system with electronic publishing, NetLibrary offers an easy-to-use information and retrieval system for accessing the full text of reference, scholarly, and professional books. These e-books are sold by the collection, although individual titles can be purchase once the initial collection is purchased. The current NetLibrary catalog has nearly 40,000 titles in the business, technology, engineering, industry, science, mathematics, medicine and allied health fields.

eBooks are full-text electronic versions of published books that library patrons can search, borrow, read, and return via the Internet. With NetLibrary eBooks, users can access library resources anywhere, anytime, and perform full-text searches across hundreds of books or within a specific book to speed research and reference projects. These books can be viewed online from a library, office, home, or remote location using an Internet browser, or can be downloaded to a laptop. Added benefits include an embedded dictionary in each book with accompanying visuals and verbal pronunciation. eBooks are available for varying checkout periods and are automatically checked back into the library collection when the checkout period expires.
