BOULDER, COLO. – June 16, 2001 - NetLibrary™, a leading provider of eBooks and Internet-based
content/collection management services today announced an agreement with R.R. Bowker that
incorporates NetLibrary’s eBook titles into R.R. Bowker’s Books In Print® book information
database. Bowker’s Books In Print® booksinprint.com™ and globalbooksinprint.com™ comprise the
most comprehensive and unbiased database of books, audios, and videos for the United States,
Canada and the United Kingdom.
Books In Print® volumes are available in print, CD-ROM, and as booksinprint.com™, via the Internet.
It is widely subscribed to by librarians in academic, public and K-12 libraries because of its
powerful search capabilities, authoritative bibliographic data, list creation, order management,
and download features. Including NetLibrary’s eBooks in the database will now give librarians an
additional point of access to the most extensive collection of eBooks available.
“As NetLibrary’s eBook collection grows we continue to search for ways to make accessing our catalog
of available eBook titles easier,” said Rich Rosy, Executive Vice President of NetLibrary. “Integrating
our collection into Books In Print will give academic and public libraries in the U.S., Canada and the
United Kingdom unprecedented ability to find NetLibrary eBook titles and bibliographic information to
support their library’s collection development and acquisitions processes.”
“With information about more than 4.1 million titles, booksinprint.com presently is the best place to search
for and find accurate, unbiased information about books audio and video recordings worldwide,” said Angela
D’Agostino, senior director of product development for New Providence, NJ-based R.R. Bowker. “The addition
of the NetLibrary catalog will enable librarians, library patrons, and book retailers to easily search for,
and find, descriptive and ordering information about more than 30,000 eBooks. Booksinprint.com will now be
the single largest repository of eBook information available in the world.”
eBooks are full-text electronic versions of published books that library patrons can search, borrow, read,
and return via the Internet. With NetLibrary eBooks, users can access library resources anywhere, anytime,
and perform full-text searches across hundreds of books or within a specific book to speed research and
reference projects. These books can be viewed online from a library, office, home, or remote location using
an Internet browser, or can be downloaded to a laptop. Added benefits include an embedded dictionary in each
book with accompanying visuals and verbal pronunciation, as well as hyperlinks from both the table of
contents and index. eBooks are available for varying checkout periods and are automatically checked back
into the library collection when the checkout period expires.
