EBSCO Publishing Offers NetLibrary™ eBooks to Colleges
and Universities
~Link to NetLibrary Now Available from EBSCOhost®~
IPSWICH, Mass. March 15, 2001 - EBSCO Publishing now offers
NetLibrary™ eBooks to U.S. and Canadian colleges and
universities. eBooks have quickly gained momentum as quality, effective research tools
in academic libraries, and NetLibrary is leading the charge. Over 4,000 libraries are
currently offering fully searchable NetLibrary eBooks to their library users.
NetLibrary Link on EBSCOhost
EBSCO Publishing and NetLibrary also announced the introduction of a new linking feature
that will facilitate the use of electronic resources available from both companies. A direct
link to NetLibrary is now available from the result page within EBSCOhost. This link
allows users to quickly access NetLibrary, and begin searching their library’s collection of
eBooks. Clicking on the NetLibrary icon will launch a new browser window for the NetLibrary
session. For those subscribing to NetLibrary and EBSCOhost, the link can be activated
through EBSCOadmin, the administrative component to EBSCOhost. An important
component of this linking feature is that EBSCOhost users will be automatically
authenticated upon entering the NetLibrary search interface, providing immediate access to
their library’s eBook collection.
In addition to this newly established link to e-books, the EBSCO
Smartlinks® capability allows users to access a
variety of electronic reference materials directly from ESBCOhost. These sources include
e-journals from EBSCO Online, full text articles from other EBSCOhost databases,
OPAC’s and more. These links also make it possible for users to search citation-only databases
such as Sociological Abstracts, and retrieve full text results.
