Allies at War Featured as May eBook of the Month
New content promotion provides libraries and their patrons with free access to contemporary best sellers and new releases

BOULDER, COLO.— NetLibrary, in partnership with McGraw-Hill Professional, is pleased to offer free online access to the full text of "Allies at War" May 3-31. Selected as NetLibrary's May eBook of the Month, "Allies at War" will be provided with unlimited access through more than 8,700 member libraries throughout the world.

Written by renowned Brookings Institution fellows Philip Gordon and Jeremy Shapiro, "Allies at War," examines the current state of the fragile American/European alliance including: The evolution of NATO in the aftermath of the cold war, tensions exacerbated by President Bush's refusal to ratify, or even recognize, agreements considered vital in Europe Israeli/Palestinian violence, and the sharply different opinions on why it exists and how it can be stopped.

Throughout May, patrons of member libraries will be able to access the full text of "Allies at War," from in-library computers or by logging into NetLibrary as a remote user. To help promote the eBook of the Month program, NetLibrary will provide participating libraries with sample press releases, banners and other promotional resources that can be downloaded from the NetLibrary site.

In coming months, NetLibrary will highlight new, noteworthy and award winning titles selected from our catalog of more than 65,000 eBooks. In many cases, titles will be selected that support industry-wide literacy and awareness initiatives, including Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women's History Month and National Poetry month. About the Authors of "Allies at War"

Philip Gordon is a Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution and former Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council. His work has appeared in "The New York Times," "The Washington Post," "Foreign Affairs" and other leading national and international publications. He holds a doctorate and a master's degree in European Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University.

Jeremy Shapiro is a Research Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution and a former international policy analyst for the RAND Corporation. His areas of expertise include the domestic politics of US foreign policy, US Army and Air Force global strategic planning, and homeland security.
