"The Muslim World after 9/11" Selected as February eBook of the Month
Monthly content promotion provides free access to new and notable releases
BOULDER, COLO.—NetLibrary, in partnership with the Rand Corporation, has selected "The Muslim World after 9/11" as the February eBook of the Month. A thorough examination of the major dynamics driving changes in the religio-political landscape of the Muslim world, this groundbreaking new volume will be provided with free, unlimited access February 1-28 to more than 12,000 member libraries and their patrons.
Developed by a team of senior Rand Corporation analysts, "The Muslim World after 9/11" examines ideological tendencies in the different regions of the Muslim world and discuss the factors that produce religious extremism and violence as well as the implications of these dynamics for global security and Western interests.
"While only Muslims themselves can effectively challenge the message of radical Islam, there is much the United States and like-minded countries can do to empower Muslim moderates in this ideological struggle," said Angel Rabasa, RAND senior policy analyst and lead author of the report. "The struggle in the Muslim world is essentially a war of ideas, the outcome of which will determine the future direction of the Muslim world and profoundly affect vital U.S. security interests."
"The Muslim World after 9/11" begins with a concise and helpful overview of trends in the Muslim World after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and continues with chapters on each of the major regions of the Muslim world: the Arab Middle East, the Maghreb, Turkey, Iran, South Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and Muslim diasporas and networks scattered throughout the world. The authors also identify possible strategies and political and military options for the United States and its allies to pursue in response to changing conditions in this critical and volatile part of the world.
To help libraries promote featured eBook of the Month titles to their patrons, NetLibrary has developed a tool kit of free promotional materials that includes print-on-demand bookmarks, sample press releases, and electronic support materials.
