Esquire's Summer Reading Issue to be Available
as eBook Edition through peanutpress.com
Summer reading is taking a new form this year as Esquire and peanutpress.com,
the handheld eBook division of NetLibrary Inc., are offering a free preview
of the Esquire Summer Reading Issue for enjoyment on Palm and Windows CE handheld computers.
The free downloadable package is available now at the peanutpress.com website.
The package features epic stories of survival from Sean Flynn, Michael Paterniti,
and Bucky McMahon, plus a new story of war by Tim O'Brien. And, as an eBook-only
bonus, Esquire's guide to the best new books of summer 2000 will be included in the package.
"This is a landmark event for our magazine and our readers," said David
Granger, editor in chief of Esquire. "Esquire has a 70-year history of adapting
journalism and literature to our evolving culture. Our Summer Reading Issue
seemed precisely the right vehicle for taking this step, not only to present
great writing in a new form but also to allow readers to store this issue in
their new electronic pockets as they travel this summer."
peanutpress.com enables fans of all types of literature to quickly download
eBooks, newspaper content, and magazine articles to their Palm or Windows CE
handheld computers. Electronic editions from peanutpress.com are convenient
for reading on commuter trains, planes, or anywhere somebody finds time to
read. The peanutpress.com website features hundreds of popular fiction and
non-fiction titles from top publishers.
"Esquire's Summer Reading package is a perfect companion to handheld computers,"
said Mike Segroves, NetLibrary vice president of market development. "By
downloading these stories of adventure and survival, handheld computer users
can read them while having an adventure of their own."
