Press Release

"The Recurrent Crisis in Corporate Governance"
Selected as NetLibrary eBook of the Month
Monthly content promotion provides free access to new and notable releases

BOULDER, COLO. — NetLibrary, in partnership with Palgrave Macmillan, is pleased to offer free online access to the full text of "The Recurrent Crisis in Corporate Governance" June 1-30. Selected as NetLibrary's June eBook of the Month, "The Recurrent Crisis in Corporate Governance" will be provided with unlimited access to more than 8,700 member libraries throughout the world.

Written by renowned corporate governance experts Paul MacAvoy and Ira M. Millstein, "The Recurrent Crisis in Corporate Governance" argues that two major crises have overtaken governance of the American corporation — the loss of competitiveness in the 1980s and the loss of investor trust in financial management in the late 1990s. The authors use a scholar-practitioner approach to show what is missing in today's corporate governance and to support a case for activating the board of directors, with leadership from an independent chair, to put new controls on management and take responsibility for the result.

Throughout June, patrons of member libraries will be able to access the full text of "The Recurrent Crisis in Corporate Governance" from in-library computers or by logging into NetLibrary as a remote user. To help promote the eBook of the Month program, NetLibrary will provide participating libraries with sample press releases, banners and other promotional resources that can be downloaded from the NetLibrary site.

In coming months, NetLibrary will highlight new, noteworthy and award winning titles selected from our catalog of more than 67,000 eBooks. In many cases, titles will be selected that support industry-wide literacy and awareness initiatives, including Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women's History Month and National Poetry month.
