NetLibrary to Distribute Spanish-Language eBooks
Special Incentives for First 50 Libraries to Purchase Collections
BOULDER, COLO. October 27, 2003 NetLibrary, the leading provider of eBooks for the institutional library market, and a divison of OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc., has released two new collections of eBooks to meet the growing demand for Spanish- language content. Ideal for academic, research and public libraries serving Spanish-speaking populations, these new collections currently include more than 200 titles, and are updated daily with new titles from leading Spanish-language publishers.
"Providing Spanish-language content is the next important step in NetLibrary's evolution," said Rich Rosy, NetLibrary's Corporate Vice President. "We've made more than 60,000 English language titles available to libraries throughout the world. Now we're expanding our collection to help libraries reach out to their Spanish-speaking constituents. Our ultimate goal is to help provide libraries with the diverse resources they need to serve their patrons, regardless of the language they speak."
The two new collections will cover a wide range of subject areas for both academic and public libraries. The Spanish-Language Research and Academic Monographs Collection includes 150 Spanish-language titles for research and academic institutions in the US, Latin America, Spain, and the European Union (EU). The Reading & Resources for Native Spanish Speakers Collection includes 125 Spanish- and English-language eBooks designed for public, school, community college, government libraries, language schools/learning centers, and community resource centers in the US. As part of an introductory program, the first 50 libraries to place orders for both collections will be eligible for savings of up to 40 percent.
To support the introduction of Spanish Language eBooks, NetLibrary has upgraded their website to provide a Spanish language interface. Libraries providing Spanish-language eBooks to their patrons will now be able to offer full Spanish-language search capabilities and navigation for both online and offline use.
